Reading passage
When someone loses a person they love, it can be very hard to find the right words. However, sending a message is a kind way to show that you care. You do not need to write a long letter; a short and simple message is often the best choice. There are many ways to express your sympathy. A classic and polite phrase is, "I am sorry for your loss." You could also say, "My condolences to you and your family." If you were friends with the person who died, you might share a short, happy memory of them to make the person feel better. It is important to remember that everyone handles sadness in their own way. Some people want to talk, while others need time alone. You should tell the person that you are thinking of them and offer your support if they need anything. If you are at work, keep your message professional and sincere. A message like, "I am so sorry for your loss. I am thinking of you and your family," is perfectly appropriate. Most importantly, do not worry if your words are not perfect. What matters most is that you show your genuine care and respect for their feelings during a very difficult time.
